Wednesday's Wet run- but in SHORTS! |
Thursday was when I started to feel the last few weeks. My alarm went off at 5:30 and I simply rolled over and told it NO. I was tired, I was physically ready for some relaxing and down time. It had been almost 2 weeks without a rest day(not smart on my part). So I slept in and went to work without doing a morning workout. I ended up repeating this on Friday, 2 rest days in a row was something I seriously needed as much as I didn't want to admit it.
The jam-packed race weekend was more than I could have hoped for. The best part was getting to spend so much time with Hollie, Heather, & Brittany. Although this weekend certainly left me tired, it also leaves me feeling very happy and blessed for the awesome people in my life. It also left me feeling happy that I don't have another race for 3 weeks.
The next few weeks gives me time to address some issues (nagging shin), as well as get some smart training in before my next race. I need to reevaluate some parts of my plan, so we will see what comes of it.
How was your weekend?
Did you race this weekend?
(I know many did between small races, and Disney ones!)
Shin pain- give me your best stretch or remedy?
Looks like a busy week! Can't wait to hear about those races. Word on the street [twitter] is that someone PRd Sunday!
ReplyDeleteGreat job Laura!!! Can't wait to hear your recap from your races this weekend!!! I used to get shin splints and I started "writing the ABCs" with my feet after a run. Sounds weird but it worked!
ReplyDeleteThanks Mindy! ABC's are on my list of To-dos!
DeleteYour pictures looked so fun--and you look so happy & beautiful =)
ReplyDeletemy Friday night rocked. Saturday was a DISASTER & yesterday was spent meal prepping and finally studying for my CPT. Any tips are appreciated ;)
Glad you had a great Friday and I'm sorry Saturday wasn't so good :(
DeleteMake a schedule for yourself for ACE- Aim for a chapter/unit a week and set aside a little time each night.
Sounds like you had a great week. No races for me this weekend, though. I can't wait to read yours, you write really good race recaps. I have to front-load my workouts next week for the same reason too, at least it's good we can all be flexible and listen to our bodies when we need to.
ReplyDeleteGreat week of training and racing, WTG! Can't wait to hear about the races.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to read your re-caps!...I had a very busy weekend - but no race for me...just cheered Mike on!
ReplyDeleteBusy weekend I am sure, especially after vacation!
DeleteI AM SO GLAD I GOT TO SEE YOU! Ha not that that has anything to do with your workout recaps. But I'm glad you had a productive week and got enough rest, It clearly worked out at the end. :-)
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the double race weekend and glad you rested for 2 days before it!
ReplyDeleteI always ice my shins when they are sore and make sure I point and flex my feet a lot to keep them from being idle for too long.
How awesome you were able to run outside in shorts once last week! I did a 5k saturday night.
ReplyDeleteWow, you've been busy! In less-desirable winter climates it's difficult to have motivation in the winter. Reading about your busy schedule these past two weeks definitely helps inspire me! Thanks!

Motivation during hard winter is definitely a tricky thing! Keep up the good work Kim!
DeleteHopefully you aren't too worn out after all your weekend fun and 2 great races!
ReplyDeleteYears ago I struggled with shin pain a lot - I had a PT tell me to lay on my back with my legs in the air and point and flex my feet. Do some slow and some fast - every day, several times a day and it will help strengthen your shins.
Adding it to the list, thanks!!
DeleteObviously two rest days works well for you ;-)
ReplyDeleteYou are amazing and I'm so happy I got to see you this weekend.
;)
Delete4 more weeks until I get to see you again, counting down the days
Wow, busy, but productive week. Hope your shin pain goes away.
ReplyDeleteThanks Abby! How has your new training plan been going?
DeleteGlad to hear the weekend of racing went well! 2 races in a row under 7 min pace..... .......... that is ridiculous. AWESOME job!! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Laura, missed seeing you Saturday I hope you are feeling better! Let's plan a run soon!
DeleteNice week! You were flying in that half!! Take care of your body like you did last week so you arrive to Boston strong.
ReplyDeleteThanks Dani, stepping back from things this week to give the body some breathing room! :) Then back at it!
